Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Honing Technician to support the repair and refurbishment of hydraulic cylinders and precision industrial components. The successful candidate will operate honing equipment to restore internal bores to the required dimensions, geometry, and surface finish.
Responsibilities
- • Inspect cylinder tubes and component bores for scoring, wear, corrosion, and dimensional deviations.
- • Set up and operate honing machines for hydraulic cylinder tubes and other precision components.
- • Select suitable honing stones, abrasives, tooling, and operating parameters for the material and required finish.
- • Control material removal to achieve specified bore size, roundness, straightness, and surface finish.
- • Measure and record bore dimensions before, during, and after honing using appropriate precision instruments.
- • Identify defects or excessive wear requiring further repair or component replacement.
- • Coordinate with machining, assembly, and inspection teams throughout the repair process.
- • Maintain equipment, tooling, inspection records, and a clean and safe work area.
Requirements
- • ITI, Diploma, or equivalent technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, or a related discipline; relevant practical experience will also be considered.
- • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in industrial honing or hydraulic cylinder bore finishing.
- • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements.
- • Experience using internal micrometers, dial bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- • Knowledge of abrasive selection, honing defects, and corrective adjustments.
- • Experience in hydraulic cylinder repair will be an advantage.
- • Commitment to workshop safety, quality, and accurate documentation.
