Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Polishing Technician to carry out surface preparation and precision polishing of hydraulic rods, shafts, valve components, and other industrial machine parts. The successful candidate will restore surface quality while maintaining the dimensions and profiles required for reliable component operation.
Responsibilities
- • Inspect components for scratches, corrosion, pitting, burrs, and other surface defects.
- • Carry out polishing, buffing, deburring, and finishing using suitable machines and hand tools.
- • Select appropriate abrasives, polishing compounds, and finishing sequences.
- • Polish hard chrome plated and other metallic surfaces in accordance with job requirements.
- • Maintain component dimensions, edge profiles, and sealing surfaces during polishing.
- • Check surface finish and dimensions using appropriate inspection instruments.
- • Report defects that require machining, replating, or further repair.
- • Coordinate with machining, plating, valve repair, and quality teams.
- • Maintain polishing equipment, dust extraction arrangements, and clean work areas.
Requirements
- • Relevant vocational training or equivalent practical experience in industrial metal finishing.
- • Minimum 3 years of experience polishing precision industrial components.
- • Experience working with hydraulic rods, shafts, hard chrome plated components, or valve parts.
- • Understanding of surface finish requirements and the effects of excessive material removal.
- • Ability to use measuring instruments and assess finished surface quality.
- • Knowledge of safe operation of rotating equipment, abrasive tools, and polishing machinery.
- • Strong attention to detail and consistency of finish.
